PNA history

Nitiporn Hempstead (née Thavuti) has been in the Nanny industry all her adult life, having moved to Bangkok when she was just 18. She promptly joined the only Nanny agency in Thailand at that time.

Known as a hard worker and a very quick learner, Nitiporn was recommended, and successfully interviewed, for the prestigious position of Nanny for the Thai Ambassador to the UK. Over the next two years abroad, she looked after the Ambassador’s baby and honed her domestic and social skills, working to the most exacting consular standards.

On her return to Thailand, with the continuing support of her previous employer, she was encouraged to start Nitiporn’s Nanny Agency, which was successfully launched in 1991.

She sourced only the most professional Nannies with the highest standards - Candidates that could join a family and immediately make a warm and positive contribution. As a mother herself, Nitiporn understood, more than most, the challenges of raising a child, managing a house and furthering a career. 

Her hard work and integrity shone through, as the company steadily grew into the largest Nanny Agency in Thailand.

In 2009, her business partner, Mark, joined the Agency and together they expanded the domestic services offer to Expat families in Bangkok (and beyond). The Agency also registered as a Limited Company – Nitiporn’s Professional Nanny Agency – now PNA.

To this day, Nitiporn is known as a pioneer. She was:

• the first person to run a fully-licensed and bonded Nanny Agency

• the first person to provide accommodation for Candidates who were in between employers 

• instrumental in the campaign to amend Thai Employment Law to include Nannies in domestic workers’ legal protections.

Nitiporn fought (and still fights) to rid the industry of the scourge of illegal and trafficked workers.

Nitiporn’s natural humanitarian approach to welfare means that almost all the Candidates PNA places stay loyal to the Agency and often return for their next placement. Many now have over 10 years’ service with PNA.
